- All prepared? - Well, Gary was! An excellent concert in a new venue! A brilliant 'AFE' and a better 'Cars' - I was lucky enough to chat to the man himself for a few moments afterwards and I complimented him on the version of 'Cars' played - thankfully to his amusement.
'Please Listen to the Sirens' and 'My Shadow in Vain' remain in my memory at the moment, along with Oh! Didn't I Say? - lemon kid that I am. By the way - what is a lemon kid? If it's anything remotely derogatory or iffy I shall refrain from being one! Is it like a small numanoid?
And speaking of small numanoids, as I wasn't really, then spare a thought all you tall people who stand at the front, for the shorter ones amongst us. Now I'm 5'11' in my unstockinged feet (as always) and usually get a view but often find myself behind friends of mine (Mick or Rob you know who you are) and my view is restricted a tad. I don't mind in the least as I know it's just one of those things and I can not expect some sort of total unrestricted view. Mind you there were also some people I knew there on Saturday who were in a real predicament because of their height. I'm not suggesting some sort of height grading - i.e. a low entrance bar on the entrance door to create some sort of human ampitheatre effect (!!! - blimey - my 42 hours awake without any kip over the weekend is leading me to hallucinate) - no, just a thought for those who could be ushered forward perhaps....I often wonder how much Gary would see sans boots at one of his own gigs if he was in the crowd??? Bugger all obviously as he'd get mugged.
So, before I collect my one film of pics from Boots which hopefully they've etched onto CD for me today (which will probably if I'm very lucky give me two or three for the site and maybe some snaps of people standing with him at the stage door) I shall leave you with this one thought....

- All prepared? Well I don't know about you, but I'm ready for the next GN concert. As always it seems like years since he last played and yet it was only a few months. So how am I prepared? Boating in Ireland perhaps beforehand? Well no actually, although I shall be away for a few days and arriving straight back to the concert direct from sunny climes. I only prey I remember to take my ticket! My preparation for the concert will be listening to a few tracks beside the pool (as you do!) before I return - all my travel tickets right to the venue are bought in advance. Along with the after show party and hotel room all is paid for and waiting for me to use! That's the way I like it - so that it's only the ubiquitous t-shirt, cd-programme (if there is one) or poster to buy.
And perhaps a small glass of something afterwards to unwind. Not like some people who's idea of preparation before a concert is to drink heavily and ruin things for others unfortunate enough to be standing nearby during the gig. Still, that happens at all concerts, and less it seems at GN ones. On the whole they're an extrememly well-behaved crowd. I remember at a Warriors concert in '83 my fiancee had fainted - as if from nowhere three burly chaps (more than was needed - my fiancee wasn't that big!!) whisked her out of the venue to the back to recover. They weren't security guards but fellow fans not worried about missing part of the track.
Anyway - I'm ready - bring on the concert! See you all at the London !!
