Leeds Spectacular...
Leeds - spectacular - are we talking of the same place? No I mean the concert silly. Well alright Leeds itself was fine too but I didn't get much time to look around. My Mum was born there and now lives nearby hence my ability to see Numan live in the city for the first time.
And what a spectacular show! Spectacular visually and especially the sound - more the quality of the performance(s) - all the band gelled so well and Gary really worked hard at the front - even falling down and finishing a song on the ground at one stage! I won't mention which tracks he did or the ones he left out as I'm sure you (yes you) may not have seen him on this tour just yet and I don't want to spoil it for you. Even managed to get a copy of the set list which I'll no doubt show off once the tour has ended. If you really want to know what he played then there's bound to be someone somewhere with the info...
And any photos? Well I did take a few! Again without flash as always although at the end when it was obvious it was the last track and there were countless other flashes going off I couln't see the harm although I'm still wary of doing so. And again I did take a few pics but not billions - the point of going is to enjoy the show - if you want a good record of it then buy the dvd when it comes out or just watch and take it in - it'll live on n your mind anyway without the need for photgraphic or video triggers. Having said that there were loads of people with mobile phones taking shots and doubtless video clips but what can the quality be like? My own images I take are at 5megapixels as I step the camera down from it's 7.2 megawhatsits as the more it has to record the more time the shot will take and in those conditions the extra sharpness on a successful picture will be difficult to measure. As it is most images are not sharp enough simply because the digital cameras we all have take so bl**dy long to process the image - the professional digital-backed slr cameras are fine - they have the oomph to get the image recorded quicker.
And anyway what's all this camera-talk all about - what do I know about it anyway! So when I've a chance I'll add some of the pics from Leeds onto the Living Ornaments 06 section. Now there's a nice one of the Town Hall, another of the bus station, oh yes and some lovely golden owls...
p.s. watch GMTV next week ...
