- Two weeks after buying the Living Ornaments CD (hand delivered to my door by Atomic Sounds) it's still being played and scrutinised, and the prize for the best track(s) must go to Remember I Was Vapour! Stories I recall from an old tape I had of the mixing desk recording from Manchester 1980 (as I'm sure a lot of you got hold of too) so that track wasn't so much the surprise for me. Vapour is a little calmer than the 1981 version which is completely over the top (and magnificent too), and shows how the song developed live through 1979-81. So when will Gary do that one live again??? The album version had that wonderful keyboard break which always seems to make me think of the colour purple (that's the colour purple not the film) - who know's why? Maybe it's an ingrained memory of the Complex 12' cover which is from that same early era....Here endeth today's mini-blog !!!

- Now I would have updated this site yesterday, but like loads of you I was listening to the excellent release on CD of Living Ornaments 80. Later I shall convert it to mp3 for my personal player and enjoy it on a long train journey I'm doing tomorrow. Doubtless, as with all listening to music on cd whilst travelling, I shall associate new places with the music (don't you do that? - you know, as soon as you hear that track again you always remember where you were when you heard it last). Although tomorrow I shall be daydreaming as I listen - remembering when I saw Gary in 1980 in Brighton for the Teletour. I shall imagine that the concert on CD is from that night on the tour although I'm sure it's not! The chaps behind the Touring Principle website need the very best commendation in getting hold of the tapes that have led to this extended release. Must go now - am travelling back 25 years again...

the ashleyx numan site is cobbled together using php, bits of old string and some woodglue; it's declared purpose is to entertain the ever-increasing band of Gary Numan fans - all photographic illusions on this site have been taken by the "Mysterious" (ha) Ashley X himself using common-or-garden kit dating way back to 2005 and in some cases... earlier - and all textual waffle is from the own fair brain of said Mr X dating back to 1996 in some cases (look and see how this man has simply not progressed in a decade)
