A personal point of view from AshleyX - numan fan since '79...
I shall be adding the most recent waffle into the voix section once it has come off the intro page...

So, Gary's tired of the nostalgia after ending the epically successful Replicas Tour last month. I'm glad he did it, and the Telekon '06 but there is a danger of being typecast. Just when you've been making a mark with your new music some journo breaks big press with an article saying here's Gary still doing Down InThe Park etc. Anyone in the know knows Gary's more focussed on the new material and the nostalgia tours were an attempt to appease some of the fans, but is it the right signal to new fans. We'll see when the new fans attracted to Replicas 08 come along to Splinter 08 / Resurrection 09 Tours (or whatever they're called). We're flattered as music fans that Gary cares this much for his fans to mount such a tour and we're terribly grateful and all that - I for one prefer the new material tourswith a smattering of surprise old tracks here and there or in encores etc. You can't please everyone and as I've often said on this site it's down to Gary to follow his instinct. It seems that according to his words on numan.co.uk he has worries about the retro tours and so we'll have to wait ages for the next one. Maybe we'll see Pleasure Principle 2011 ? - who knows maybe never.
And if we get extra albums and concerts of new material instead then that's surely preferable. The best is still yet to come...
