Numan at the Dome, Brighton [1]

I love the following shot... the lights working to their best effect. As with most of my shots they were taken just giving enough time to frame the view - not taking long as I wanted to enjoy the concert. With digital you have to take pot luck - even the expensive digital-backed SLR's in the press gallery in front seemed to take a while processing the image. At leasrt with film (which I'd like to return to) your image is instant and actually also the image you wanted, rather than one captured a few milliseconds after you wanted it. Knocking the resolution down a bit may improve process time but art the expense of clarity.

So if you manage to get a clear shot of a member of the band it's a bonus. No good trying to follow people with the camera screen or viewfinder - just wait until an interesting view looks likely to occur and then take a few in quick succession and not worry at the time how they come out. With my contact lenses in I couldn't see the finished results anyway - only now when uploading some to the site I can take a proper look. The last thing you want during the concert is to spend any time examining your images (or anyone elses!) - just enjoy the moment.
