Wondering about dark miss-presses

Record collectors are a funny lot. Numan collectors perhaps the same. They spend ages trying to get hold of a new or rare record, and wwant it even more when it's a miss-press - i.e. the name on the label doesn't match the contents.

A case in point is the new compilation album 'Dark Wonders'. This is a good selection of tracks, with good advice on it's selection. The cover artwork could have been better, but I digress.

What is intriguing with my copy is that the CD for disk 2 is printed up as disk 2 of the Stranglers compilation album. According to Tony who runs my favourite (and excellent) record shop 'Atomic Sounds' in Shoreham-by-Sea the Stranglers cd was the next catalogue number and it's easy to see how a batch has been produced in this fashion.

I took a look at another he had not sold and the mistake is still there - which suggests there may be quite a few out there - perhaps all of them!

If you want to email me at numan@ashleyx.com with your thoughts on this, or any other miss-presses then I'll put them on the site.

If you're not a record collector and only care that you get to hear Numan when you buy Numan, or feel that these seemingly endless compilation cds are a rip-off then again I'd like to hear from you.

Actually I'd just like to hear from anybody!!! - it's Valentine's Day and it's so lonely here in Ashley X land!!!

the ashleyx numan site is cobbled together using php, bits of old string and some woodglue; it's declared purpose is to entertain the ever-increasing band of Gary Numan fans - all photographic illusions on this site have been taken by the "Mysterious" (ha) Ashley X himself using common-or-garden kit dating way back to 2005 and in some cases... earlier - and all textual waffle is from the own fair brain of said Mr X dating back to 1996 in some cases (look and see how this man has simply not progressed in a decade)
